I can’t escape my concern for the wrongdoing in the world. A surface layer of humour and absurdity masks a strong undercurrent of despair in my art, as I observe how the manipulative, greedy and corrupt are blissfully engineering repetitions of the calamities and failures documented throughout history.
Although I am essentially an artist using print process, my practice employs a broad range of applications including video, performance, text and culinary methods. The materials that I use are often intrinsically connected with the images they portray such as the work Drool (2010), a screen-printed installation made with ink containing herbs and spices from the G20 countries and the Serbian paprika used in Deprecated Location (2014), a screen print depicting Archduke Franz Ferdinand. Recent works, Flame Thrust and Conical Axial (2016), with their depictions of curious mechanical components, engender a sense of the industrial revolution by combining woodcut with screen-print. Other works such as the screen-prints Moore is Law X 32 and 64 (2012) strongly signal the digital revolution. Installations such as Blast (2015) and Bad Peace (2016) make futile gestures towards the folly of warfare.
